13 months / 1 ano e 1 mes

Today I turn 13 months. Last Wed, I decided it was time to do more than just a few steps at a time, and started to walk (post).  I am officially a toddler, I guess.  I also love going to the park nearby my house, and I have figured out that I must climb the stairs before going down the slide (yes, I still climb up the slide too). At home, I keep on trying to climb onto every piece of furniture. My mom calls me little monkey!

 I am pretty good at shape sorting and stacking a few cups at a time. I love balls, cars, and musical instruments. My new favorite toy is a drum my mom just bought for me. I can now say pretty consistently “mama”, “papa or baba” for dad, “dede” for Lady, “aua” or “uaua” for water, “ba-bah” or “au” for bye, “boh” for ball, and I make sounds for cars (“brrrrrrrr”), airplanes (“fuuuuu”), and fans. I seem to understand quite a few commands both in English and Portuguese.

We are getting into a routine with mom being back at work. She is so tired, poor thing, but always has a warm heart to give me lots of attention when she picks me up at daycare. We normally play together with dad and lady when we all come home. I love it, although I am normally pretty tired by the end of the day.

I am eating a lot more now, although still small portions and mainly fruits, but at least I am eating three meals a day. We had a consult with the Pediatrician the other day, and I did not gain much weight, but I am consistently at the 10^th percentile for weight, so that is nothing to worry.

I have been enjoying this summer. I play in my sandbox and play structure quite a bit. I also love my little pool, especially in hot days. I have been to the beach once and to the splash pad (love it!)

Gabriel, little (big) bean!

Hoje eu completo 1 ano e 1 mes. Na última quarta-feira, decidi que era hora de fazer mais do que apenas a dar alguns passos, e comecei a andar (post). Eu sou oficialmente uma criança, não mais um bebê. Eu também adoro ir ao parque perto da minha casa, e descobri que eu tenho que subir as escadas antes de descer o escorrego (sim, eu ainda subo o escorrego também). Em casa, eu continuo tentando subir no sofá, na cadeira, e escalo a cômoda. Minha mãe me chama de macaquinho!

A outra coisa é que estou muito bem em encaixes e empilhamento de cubinhos. Eu amo bolas, carros e instrumentos musicais. Meu mais novo brinquedo favorito é um tambor minha mãe acabou de comprar para mim. Agora eu consigo dizer de maneira consistente "mama", "papa ou baba" para pai, "dede" para Lady, "aua" ou "uaua" para a água, "ba-baa" ou "au" para bye, "bo" para bola, e eu faço sons para carros ("brrrrrrrr"), aviões ("fuuuuu"), e ventiladores. Eu pareco entender bem alguns comandos tanto em Inglês qto Português.

Nós ja estamos nos adaptando a uma nova rotina com mainha de volta ao trabalho. A bichinha anda bem cansada, mas sempre tem um sorriso e muito amor para mim no fim do dia. Sempre que meus painhos me pegam na creche, nós normalmente brincamos juntinhosantes de comecar a rotina do jantar e do soninho. Eu adoro brincar com eles, mas confesso que tenho chegado da creche bem cansadinho.

Estou comendo bem melhor agora, embora ainda pequenas porções e, basicamente, frutas apenas, mas pelo menos eu estou comendo três refeições por dia. Semana passada tive uma consulta no pediatra. Nao ganhei muito peso nao, mas continuo no percentil 10 para o peso, portanto não ha com o que se preocupar.

Nos temos aproveitado bastante este verão. Eu brinco na minha caixinha de areia e escorrego. Eu também adoro a minha piscininha, especialmente em dias quentes. Fomos a praia e ao splash pad uma vez. Adorei!!!

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, off to work I go!

Mom is going back to work tomorrow. I am already going full-time to daycare, and for the first three weeks, she will work three days. She told me she will try her very best to be back home by 5 pm, so we can play a bit, do our bedtime routine, and snuggle a bit before bed. Mom, I will be just fine, and will reserve a big smile and a wet kiss for your return everyday.

Mom, wrote me this:
 My beloved little bean, we have been apart a few times already, as mom has done a bit of work over the last 9 months. By now you are used to being away from mom a few hours, but this time around is a bit different... Tomorrow is the beginning of a new phase for both of us. Today I cherished every moment I have lived with you, my sweet baby, over the last year, and thanked God for having had the opportunity to see you grow so closely. Yes, I do love my job, I would never be a stay-at-home mom, but tonight my heart is asking for just a few more days... Motherhood is literally a bittersweet thing, in which you find yourself desperate at times, but is able to fall in love all over again when your little one smiles. Tonight, motherhood is only sweet for me, my baby, and I will miss waking up, feeding, sleeping, playing with you every day... Life goes on... Mom loves you with all her heart, and promise she will give you lots of love, kisses and snuggles once we get together everyday. Te amo, filhao!
